Yuga Labs, the creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection has formed a community council that comprises notable Ape collectors to steer its Web3 presence. The company announced this via a blog post.

“This council was formed with the intention of representing the club at large and providing a new avenue of perspective,” the blog post reads. “The council, and future councils to come, puts a more formal, efficient, and consistent process in place for Yuga leadership to get community feedback and advice on an ongoing basis.”

The council is made up of seven members namely Josh Ong, Negi, Laura Rod, Sera, 0xEthan, 0xWave, and Peter Fang. All seven members are long-term Bored Ape holders and Web3 entrepreneurs. Yuga Lab says it will grow the council in the future by increasing its membership.

One of the primary tasks of the new council is to uplift the Web3 initiatives in the Bored Ape Yacht Club community. Yuga states that the council will boost commercial products, charitable endeavors, and meetups. This will take BAYC products to another level and help the club to grow its numbers.

The new council is like the special counsel of the ApeCoin Foundation, which is a group of Bored Ape owners chosen to help push the ApeCoin grants and proposals. The members are voted for by ApeCoin owners, the native coin of the Yuga Labs ecosystem.

According to Yuga Labs, this is not the last council it has formed to push for the growth of the products. The company has many NFT projects and they are interested in pushing them to the next level through such councils. “We are also exploring the evolving needs of our other Yuga NFT communities – CryptoPunks, Meebits, and Otherside,” the blog post read.

Other than the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), there are other NFT communities owned by Yuga Labs. Examples include Meebits, Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), and CryproPunks.

The Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT project was created from the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT. It comprises 20,000 unique Mutant Ape art images created by mutating the Bored Apes. Thus, each Mutant Ape inherits the characteristics of its parent Bored Ape but with mutated variations. However, the price of the Mutant Apes has always been lower than that of the Bored Apes.

CryptoPunks is made up of a collection of 10,000 NFTs stored on the Ethereum blockchain. It is considered the first Profile Picture (PFP) NFT project. Every punk is unique and can only be owned by one person at a time. Just like other PFP projects, they are used as profile pictures on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. Note that CryptoPunks was created by Larva Labs but it was later acquired by Yuga Labs.

Meebits is made up of a series of characters with randomly-generated traits. The characters are in 3D and displayed in voxels. There are a total of 20,000 Meebits divided into 18,881 humans, 711 pigs, 256 elephants, 72 robots, 57 skeletons, 18 visitors, and 5 dissected (humans with no skins).
