Tokenized stocks generated roughly $1.01 billion in trading volume on decentralized exchanges across Labor Day weekend, while the New York Stock Exchange was closed for the holiday.
That is nearly level with Friday’s $1.02 billion session, when traditional markets were still open. Monday’s holiday added another $398.3 million, a volume that kept flowing because platforms like Backed Finance’s xStocks and Ondo Global Markets wrap equity exposure into onchain tokens that trade on decentralized exchanges around the clock. Regular US equity markets run about 6.5 hours a weekday, roughly 32.5 hours out of the 168 in a week; the closed stretch of a holiday weekend is where the difference shows.
Retail and DEX traders drove the weekend activity across four chains: Solana, Robinhood Chain, BNB Chain and Base. Robinhood Chain led with $572.8 million over the holiday weekend, more than 57% of total activity. On BNB Chain’s bStocks, a single tokenized Nasdaq 100 fund, QQQB, generated $180.5 million over the same stretch. Base, which only launched its B20-standard tokens for tokenized equities in August, saw much of its flow pass through Aerodrome, the leading DEX on that network.
The cumulative picture is larger still: BNB Chain’s tokenized stock volume has now passed $5.2 billion, and weekly spot volumes for tokenized stocks were approaching $3 billion in the week before the holiday. Grayscale research, published in early September and cited by the outlet that first tallied the weekend figures, names Robinhood Chain, BNB Chain and Solana as the leading networks for onchain equity trading.
