Robinhood Brings No-Fee Crypto Trading to Its Main UK App via Bitstamp

Robinhood has started rolling out zero-fee cryptocurrency trading to eligible UK customers inside its primary investing app. Orders route through Bitstamp, the exchange the company acquired for $200 million last year.

The launch adds more than 50 digital assets to a UK app that already carries stocks and shares ISAs, equities, options and futures. Users pay no trading, custody or account-maintenance fees. A 0.1% foreign exchange fee applies to conversions, rising to 0.3% for certain weekend transactions, according to The Block. Supported tokens at launch include bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), XRP and HYPE.

Crypto trading is provided through Bitstamp UK Ltd, which is registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority as a crypto asset service provider. Robinhood noted that crypto holdings through Bitstamp UK are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme or the Financial Ombudsman Service.

“A new wave of UK investors sees digital assets as an important part of a diversified portfolio,” Jordan Sinclair, president of Robinhood UK Ltd and general manager of Bitstamp UK Ltd, said in a statement. “With today’s launch, we’re taking another major step toward becoming the all-in-one investment platform for the UK.”

The integration puts crypto inside Robinhood’s main UK app rather than a standalone product. The company positioned the offering against domestic competitors. “Our new product provides a transparent, low-cost alternative to many incumbent U.K. platforms, which often rely on opaque pricing structures and apply wide spreads that can erode customers’ returns,” Robinhood said, as reported by CoinDesk.

Robinhood also introduced an AI-powered analysis feature, Robinhood Cortex Digests for Crypto, alongside the trading launch. The generative AI widget analyzes breaking news, market data, technical indicators and Robinhood’s proprietary insights. It then explains in plain English what is driving price movements in individual crypto assets.

The UK expansion comes as Robinhood broadens its digital asset footprint. The company highlighted Robinhood Chain, its permissionless layer-2 blockchain built on Arbitrum, which launched July 1. The network has generated more than $18 billion in decentralized exchange trading volume and surpassed $840 million in total value locked since launch, Robinhood said.

Crypto is a smaller revenue line for Robinhood than it once was. The firm reported second-quarter crypto transaction revenue of $100 million on July 29, down 38% from a year earlier. Revenue from prediction markets reached $156 million in the same quarter, surpassing crypto for the first time, The Block reported.

Total net revenue climbed 32% year-over-year to $1.31 billion in the second quarter. Net income came in at $573 million, up 48% from Q2 2025.

“We delivered record revenues and drove new highs across equity, option, and event contract volumes, as we continue to win market share,” Chief Financial Officer Shiv Verma said during the earnings call.

The exact completion date for the UK rollout was not disclosed. Robinhood said only that it begins this week, with eligibility gating not detailed. The full list of supported tokens beyond the four named was not published.
