OpenSea now supports Solana non-fungible token (NFT) trading, closing a gap that stretched more than four years from its first limited beta on the chain.
The move places the largest NFT marketplace in direct competition with Solana-native platforms Magic Eden and Tensor, on their home turf. OpenSea first brought Solana NFTs aboard in April 2022, covering just 165 collections. That beta went nowhere fast. Magic Eden and Tensor absorbed the bulk of Solana’s NFT volume instead.
Solana resurfaced on OpenSea in April 2025 with the launch of OS2, the platform’s rebuilt multi-chain infrastructure, though only for fungible tokens at first. The company said at the time that NFTs would follow. They now have. Solana becomes OpenSea’s first non-EVM chain for NFT trading since the beta ended.
“OS2 was rebuilt from the ground up as multi-chain platform,” an OpenSea representative told The Block. “We led with Solana token support, and NFTs are now being added. They’re particularly relevant now with the emergence of so many collectibles platforms using Solana NFTs.”
Beyond Solana, OpenSea’s supported networks skew almost entirely EVM-compatible: Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Base, Monad, Sei, and Berachain. Collections named at launch include Claynosaurz, Mad Lads, BoDoggos, Collector Crypt, and Phygitals.
The competitive picture looks nothing like it did during the 2022 beta. Earlier in 2026, Magic Eden shut its Bitcoin and EVM marketplaces to refocus on Solana, the same chain OpenSea is now pushing into. The SOL token also became usable as payment for NFTs on other blockchains last year.
The launch lands in a market that keeps contracting. Monthly NFT marketplace volumes that ran into the billions of dollars in 2021 and 2022 now sit at a few hundred million, per The Block’s data dashboard. Binance closed its centralized NFT service in June 2026. Nifty Gateway, Kraken NFT, and X2Y2 have also shut down in recent months and years. The Block Research’s 2026 outlook forecast that NFT marketplace volumes would keep declining.
One thing OpenSea’s announcement left unsaid: fee structures and royalty enforcement on Solana trades. The article did not specify those terms.
An editor’s note appended after publication said OpenSea confirmed that Solana NFT trading is not yet live but is expected to go live this week. Holders, as ever, are divided on whether another marketplace entering Solana will lift volumes or just split them thinner.
